Tonight for dinner, I decided to try to use up some of the ingredients from my CSA basket that I don't always get to. This week, I got a lot of jalapeños. I looked in the refrigerator and eyed some cilantro, a skirt steak and some apple juice, and my pantry boasted pinto beans, a red onion and a lime. So here's what I came up with. The skirt steak turned out better than I imagined. The white wine perfectly tenderized the meat without pulverizing it. My husband said that the beans were the best he's ever tasted. Upon further inquiry, he said they were definitely top three. And the cilantro lime butter on the corn was absolutely perfect. I hope you decide to give this meal a try. Total hands on time is maybe 45 minutes.

Memphis Group is probably larger than most people in OC realize. Not only do they operate Memphis Cafe and Memphis at the Santora (my personal favorite), but they own and run Memphis Catering and Events, the beloved Detroit Bar and Tin Lizzie Saloon. While I’ve never had occasion (or desire) to visit Tin Lizzie Saloon, I’ve been able to experience all other aspects of the Memphis Group. The Memphis Group’s main focuses are food (obviously), community and culture. Most people in Orange County could attest to the fact that Memphis ...

Pomegranate and rosemary work well together in this dish of a marinated pork roast, Israeli couscous and roasted asparagus. The Israeli couscous is a nice compliment to the pork roast in terms of texture. And who doesn't love asparagus? Especially when you can make it so good so easily!

Portland is my new favorite city. I must admit that part of the appeal is a creepy little place called Voodoo Doughnut. Pictured below are a Maple Bacon Doughnut and a Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Rice Krispies Doughnut.
‘Nuff said.
